Connor is now 16 months old. He's starting to understand a lot of what we say, but he's at the point now that he understands a lot more than he can communicate back to us. His sign language usage of "more", "all done", and "please" is very good and he uses it often to get him through the day relatively frustration free. He spends a lot of time pointing at stuff in the house and saying his rendition of "that?". To which we must reply to him the word for what he is pointing at. He then points at the thing right next to the previous and this can seemingly go on forever.
His vocabulary includes a variety of animal sounds. Ask him what a horsey says and he'll proudly replay "NAY!". He knows the "sounds" of a horse, dog, cat, lamb/sheep, cow, and bee. Other words he says in his own special way are "ball", "shoe", "boot", "waffle", "banana", "water" (which applies to any liquid, frustratingly enough - give him water when he wanted milk and he'll let you know!), "done", "down", "ma-ma", "da-da", "book", "darts".
The kid loves to read, which consists of him sitting there with a book and babbling as he turns the pages. He enjoys being read to probably more than anything right now. You can easily spend an hour between Eight Silly Monkeys, Silent Night, Thomas the Train, and Maisy(the mouse) and the various books/sheets that go with his Leap-Pad. He'll drag a book over to you (some are very big) and hold it up in the air as a gift to you. When you accept his gift he'll let out a little squeal of joy and then follow you everywhere you go until you sit down. When you do, he grunts and groans his way up onto your lap. Once proudly there, he'll give you the "more" sign to start reading.
