Skip all the words. Take me right to the pictures.

About this page:

I am taking a stab at creating a webpage update so no laughing at the simple layout! :-) Matt is busy at work and I don't want to keep pestering him to update the webpage. While it won't be very elaborate, I hope it will suffice with the goal: to show current photos of our family, our new surroundings and whatever else I can think of that will completely bore everyone. There have been several items (ie-.gifs) that I was told to remove because they didn't adhere to the high standard of professionalism that is expected on mjtrekkers.com. :-)

What we're up to:

We're still settling in but things seem to be falling into place. Connor has already been to a birthday party, we've had dinner with our neighbors (who also have two boys) and we have a scheduled playdate with 3 other moms and their kids from the neighborhood.

Next weekend we hope to get Connor on skis for the first time. Matt and I are pumped to get on the mountain as well. We have been walking on the local trails almost everyday, enjoying the beautiful scenery. There are over 80 miles of trails in Highlands Ranch, so we have a lot yet to discover. Luckily, Kelton loves riding in the backpack which is good for him since he will be living in it this summer! The altitude and many hills here make almost every walk a real workout. Speaking of workouts, I went for a run (ok, maybe more like a shuffle) and about 10 minutes into the run, I jumped back and let out a scream when I almost stepped on a snake, not once, but TWO times! I was totally freaked out by that as well as the plethora of prairie dogs that I swore were going to run over and attack my leg. I guess prairie dogs here are like Canada Geese in Illinois. They are everywhere and the city can't seem to get rid of them. Matt also went for a bike ride and went on the same trail where I saw the snakes and he later saw a sign that gave a warning about Rattlesnakes! Oh my gosh! Welcome to Colorado... The other night we also caught a glimpse of a coyote in the open space behind our neighborhood. How cool is that? (Well, we actually saw two coyotes in Arlington Heights when we lived there, so maybe it's not THAT cool.

Photos:

Below I have a link to some recent photos we took. I will be doing "Family Update" pages as frequently as it merits. I am finding this new project to be very fun and mentally stimulating, so perhaps I will be looking for excuses to make updates. One more thing, I apologize for all of the photos that have me in them and none that have Matt in them. Matt took all of the photos during our family hike. I'll have to wrestle the camera away from him next time.
