Cedar River July 2005

After a few weeks of 90+ degree temps, the Cedar was a little warm for much excitement in the river, but through some serious patience I (Matt) managed to land my largest walleye to date. With a non-functioning drag and no net to assist in the landing, I still managed to bring in the walleye measuring 24". This may be considered a pretty weak "personal best" but it's pretty good for the Cedar and not bad since I've never actually gone "walleye fishing". Outside of this fish, my weekend fish count totaled 7 small smallmouth bass.

Brian managed to bring in a walleye that we're calling around 17" but he wasn't able to hang on to it long enough to measure.

Matt and 24" Walleye
Shortly after I caught the walleye a buck waded across the river about 40 yards upstream from me. I was madly scrambling for my camera and managed to click off a few pictures but I was wishing I had my camera with the 10x zoom instead of the 3X 2-megapixel, but here's the sequence of him finishing his walk across the river, then stopping to look at me before continue upstream along the bank.
