| The Cedar didn't give up much in volume during 2000, but it made up for it in overall size. Some years Brian and I catch dozens of little smallmouth bass with hardly anything long enough to put on a stringer. This year it seemed we didn't have that problem. The fishing was not fast and furious, but what it lacked in volume it at least tried to make up in size. We fished one evening for a few hours and ended up with a nice stringer of keeper smallies, and one nice sized northern pike. And before you say, "Hey... that northern's not so big!" remember two things 1) The Cedar isn't exactly a deep Canadian lake and 2) I'm 6'6", so I make everything but a 50-year-old sturgeon look small. They're not the biggest fish we've caught out of the Cedar, but they definitely were picture-worthy. (All were released alive) | |||||
